Pottery Open Studio in Denver
Independent Studio - our version of Open Studio
Looking for pottery open studio in Denver where you can simply show up and make? Independent Studio is our drop-in studio time for people who don’t need a class. You've taken pottery before (with us or elsewhere) and you want a well-equipped space to practice. Think study hall for clay.

This is no membership requirement and you don't need to be currently enrolled in a class. Your drop-in fee includes clay, tools, glazes, underglazes, and even use of an apron!

A studio supervisor is present if you have questions, but Independent Studio is not a taught class. You'll get guidance and quick troubleshooting, instead of step-by-step instruction.

Spots are limited. A wheel ticket books you a wheel and a handbuilding ticket gets you a seat at the table. We do sell out frequently, so booking ahead is a good idea.

What's included?
Everything!
Our wheel room has 10 wheels, bats, tons of tools, underglazes, and a great selection of dipping glazes.
Our handbuilding room is stocked with a slab roller, banding wheels, slump and hump molds, including GR Pottery forms, texture tools, a special handbuilding clay, templates we make in-house, and molding tools.

We also now offer a low-cost way to come back and glaze once your pieces are out of the bisque firing!
What do you mean everything is included?
Here's the fine print:
-
The cost is $45 ($20 to just glaze)
-
Please don't use more than 15 pounds of clay so we can keep it sustainable
-
You really don't need to bring anything with you unless you want to!
-
If you thought you could work independently, but discovered you need instruction, we encourage you to sign up for a class or a private lesson, either with us or somewhere else! We'd love to have you come back afterward!
Who Independent Studio is best for

-
You're visiting Denver and want a drop-in pottery studio option.
-
You want an all-inclusive session. No packing a tool kit, no hunting for glazes.
-
You have a home studio and want to ask a teacher some questions, explore more without the mess, or try out some of our professional tools without the membership commitment.
FAQs

Where can I find an open pottery studio near me?

Community Clay has open studio time at our RiNo studio! You don't need to have taken a class with us, as long as you've taken a class before and know your way around clay, you're welcome to join us.

Can I bring in my own clay and/or glazes?
Sorry, for the safety of our kilns and everyone else's work, we do require that you use our clay and glazes.
